The Corruptible by Mark Mynheir was an exciting read and one that was difficult to put down! This was my first book of Mynheir’s to read and the second book involving main character Private Investigator Ray Quinn (The Night Watchman is Quinn’s first appearance). Mynheir’s background in the police world lends credence to the plot of The Corruptible. The plot of the novel presents a question which could be asked of ourselves- what are we willing to overlook when we are presented an offer to enhance our lives?PI Ray Quinn is hired by an investor to find sensitive client information stolen from him by a former employee, who turns out to be a dirty ex-cop with whom Quinn knows. Quinn, battling his own demons and as well as showing his charitable side by aiding his apprentice, Crevis, with the knowledge of police work and overall education skills, is torn between who he really wants to be and who he is.
Mynheir’s writing style, based on this book, and his characters remind me of Stephen Cannell and Robert Crais. The styles are similar and all involve police/investigators as well as similar character development. This novel is a good break from life and even though there are better novels to read, this is a good read, worth your time.
I received this ebook free from WaterBrook Multnomah in exchange for reviewing it.
